Challenges

Whether one wants to observe the fate of ligand-receptor pairs or cytoplasmic trafficking, the ability to visualize subcellular processes at the nanoscale level is fundamental to basic research and drug discovery. Laser scanning confocal microscopy is often well suited for imaging at such scale. However, the microscopic mechanics of decreasing the pinhole size to resolve subcellular structures at the highest magnification often comes at a cost of signal-to-noise.

For imaging applications where the highest resolution at lowest noise is critical, the Nikon BioImaging Lab offers super-resolution confocal imaging with Nikon’s Spatial Array Confocal Detector (NSPARC) and N-STORM technology to resolve subcellular structures beyond the diffraction limit with exceptional clarity and signal-to-noise.
