Center for Advanced Microscopy at UTHealth
The Center for Advanced Microscopy and Nikon Center of Excellence at UTHealth provides state of the art imaging capabilities as well as expertise to those within UTHealth and the Texas Medical Center who have a need for cutting edge imaging technology. The Center brings together scientists and Nikon’s technical expertise with the purpose of utilizing molecular, cellular, tissue, and whole animal imaging to understand normal and abnormal biological processes and how these translate into organismal physiologies and pathophysiologies.

N-SIM Structured Illumination Super-Resolution System
Utilizing Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM), this system exceeds the diffraction limit of traditional microscopy systems, and is ideal for resolving structures ~100 nm in size.

- Structured Illumination based super-resolution imaging system
- Provides up to 2-fold improvement in resolution in XY and Z
- 2D, 3D, and TIRF modes available

A1Rsi HD Confocal and N-STORM Super-Resolution System
This confocal A1 microscope is equipped for N-STORM super-resolution imaging, and is additionally capable of performing TIRF imaging experiments.

- High-Definition 1Kx1K resonant scanning confocal for high resolution, high speed imaging
- High-sensitivity GaAsP spectral detector
- Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF) mode available
- Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM) mode enables up to 10-fold improvement in resolution in XY and Z
- Available wavelengths: 405, 445, 488, 514, 561, 647 nm
A1R Confocal
A combined confocal and widefield system, ideal for long-term live-cell imaging.

- High-speed resonant scanning confocal with simultaneous photo-stim and imaging capability
- Environmental chamber for live-cell imaging
- PFS autofocusing system
- Available wavelengths: 405, 445, 488, 514, 561, 647 nm
- Widefield imaging capability
A1 Confocal with PicoQuant Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging
This system is equipped with a PicoQuant Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM) system, along with a standard point scanning confocal system.

- 4-line, high-resolution point scanning confocal (405, 488, 561, 640 nm)
- PicoQuant FLIM imaging system (439 and 483 nm lasers)
