Nikon partners with Amsterdam UMC to launch new cutting-edge Center of Excellence

Nikon Instruments is pleased to announce the inauguration of the Center of Excellence AMSTERDAM-UMC/ NIKON at Amsterdam UMC. In order to support research and develop new technologies, the Microscopy and Cytometry core facility of Amsterdam UMC has partnered with Nikon Instruments, part of the Nikon Healthcare Division, to establish a cutting-edge microscopy facility and to combine their knowledge and core expertise for serving the scientific community in the field of health and life sciences.

This Academia - Industry partnership between Nikon and Amsterdam UMC is extremely important for the advancement of science and technologyin providing access to advanced Nikon imaging systemsand support for scientific research.

The Center of Excellence AMSTERDAM UMC / NIKON houses:

  • A super-resolution system N-SIM S
  • A high content screening system LIPSI
  • A live cell microscope with multicolor and FRET possibilities
  • A live cell confocal microscope with spectral scanner

Opening addresses during the ceremony on June 12, were given by Professor M. Daemen, Vice-Dean of Research, Amsterdam UMC, Professor Y. van Kooyk, Head of the Department of Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology and Director of the Amsterdam Infection & Immunity Research Institute, and Mr. Takaharu Sasaoka, President of Nikon Instruments Europe.
