Nikon to Open a New 30,000-Square-Foot Warehouse In Hauppauge, NY

Sep 3, 2003

With plans for continued growth, Nikon today announced it will open a new 30,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Hauppauge, New York. This facility will be devoted to warehousing and shipping functions for Nikon's Imaging Products and will begin operations by the middle of October, 2003. Consequently, Nikon will move warehousing and shipping operations for its imaging products from its Torrance, California and Melville, New York warehouse locations to this new enlarged facility in Hauppauge, NY.

"With continued expected growth in the United States, Nikon recognized the need for an expanded warehouse facility," said Jack Abrams, president and CEO, Nikon Inc. "Our current warehouse facilities in Melville, NY, which we share with our Nikon Instruments Company, did not provide sufficient space for expansion. Moreover, we wanted our warehousing and shipping functions in closer proximity to our Melville, NY headquarters than our Torrance, CA facility. The new warehouse at Hauppauge, NY will give us the additional space we need and provide us with improved inventory and administrative control and allow us to better serve our dealers, partners and customers," he added.

The new facility in Hauppauge, NY will be in close proximity to Nikon's US headquarters in Melville, NY and thereby allow better management and overall administration of the facilities. At the same time, with flexible shipping and distribution options available to Nikon, products can be delivered to any part of the country overnight. Nikon will continue to operate its customer relations, service relations, national parts and distribution, and repair departments from Torrance, CA. Nikon Instruments Inc. will expand its functions out of the current Melville, NY warehouse location.
