We would like to express our deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives to COVID-19. We sincerely pray for the speedy recovery of those still suffering from the disease.

To support the world’s COVID-19 response efforts, the Nikon Group has decided to make donations in Japan totaling 9 million yen.

We will donate 3 million each to the University of Tsukuba and Juntendo University, who are conducting advanced image analysis with optical microscopes as part of the basic research needed to study this virus. The details concerning this research are as follows.

  • Department of Infection Biology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Tsukuba
"Acceleration of COVID-19 visualization research and general virology research"
  • Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience, Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine
"Promotion of research on fluorescent labeling for visualization of COVID-19 with super-resolution microscopy, and associated morphological analysis techniques"

In addition, to assist countries and regions seeking global support, especially those with underdeveloped health systems, we will donate 3 million yen to the "COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the WHO" through the Japan Center for International Exchange.

In China, Nikon has donated 100,000 yuan to the Shanghai Charity Foundation via Nikon Instruments (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. to support China’s efforts in dealing with COVID-19.

The Nikon Group will continue to give top priority to the safety of its employees and their families, and its customers, clients, and people living in the vicinity of its offices, to prevent further infection. The Nikon Group will also contribute to society through activities based on its corporate philosophy of "Trustworthiness and Creativity."
